It can feel overwhelming to navigate relationship challenges when life feels out of control

Most people who start partner and couples counseling feel like they are going round in circles, repeating negative emotions. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you feel like you want to escape your life or you're noticing that you often feel stressed, tired, and unfulfilled.

Stuck in negativity and feeling miserable all the time, you may feel like life is spent constantly feeling "on edge".

Do You Feel Irritated, Overwhelmed, Disconnected?

Do any of the following resonate with you?

You fight all the time with your partner.

You feel lonely, even when you are with others.

You've noticed that the spark in your relationship is gone.

How Partner and Couples
Counseling Works

Standard Partner and Couples Counseling consists of 60 minute sessions that help you work through your concerns. In addition to listening, I will share thoughts when it's helpful and share what the science tells us about what's going on for you, I play an active role.

Here’s how it will work step-by-step

1

First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that we can explore what concerns are bringing you both in.

2

Through hearing both of your stories, I will start to get a picture of what the primary challenges and difficult patterns are.

3

Utilizing Gottman Couple's Therapy tools, we will explore personal experiences within the relationship using both joint and individual sessions in the initial assessment faze.

4

We will work to discover what the goals for the relationship and for each individual are.

5

Keeping these unique goals in mind, we’ll integrate tools and supports in therapy which can continue to be utilized outside of the therapeutic space.

6

Over the course of our sessions, we will start making progress in achieving a deeper connection and more meaningful relationship.

Research shows that Partner and Couples Counseling can positively change your thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It can help you let go of what’s holding you back.

Marathon Counseling

Marathon counseling for couples and partner counseling functions in a very similar way to the standard counseling approach but allows us to have longer, more in-depth sessions.

Session length can be either 2 or 3 hours at a time which provides greater opportunities to identify patterns of communication within the relationship and to practice application of skills within the therapy setting.

Common Questions

Will counseling help our partnership?

Couples/Partner therapy allows us to have a deeper understanding of the relationship, and by taking the time to attend to the health of the relationship, many individuals report feeling closer and more connected to their partner throughout therapy.

How long does it take to get results?

Some couples/partners may notice changes in their communication and connectedness within the first 2 sessions as even just starting the process of therapy helps us to be more attentive to our relationships.

Why would I trust you. What makes you different?

Having concerns about trust is totally normal when entering into therapy. As a Certified Sex Therapist and a Gottman Level 2 trained therapist, I bring tools that are specifically tailored for addressing relationship concerns, conflicts, and disconnects.

Will we just fight the entire session?

While fighting during sessions does happen, it will definitely not happen for the entire session. Witnessing conflict during therapy allows me to have a greater understanding of the dynamics in the relationship and provides an opportunity to practice skills and tools in real time.
